RAY GELATO – THE HOMECOMING SHOW
For one night at The BluesFest London, Ray Gelato is coming home. Born and raised a stone’s throw away from the Bush Hall, Ray left the surrounding streets of West London in the mid 80’s to pursue a career performing great swinging jazz to audiences all over the world. He’s performed for Her Majesty The Queen; he’s topped the bill at some of the biggest Jazz Festivals in world; he’s sold out jazz clubs all over Europe, North America, South America and Asia; he’s performed at Carnegie Hall, The Royal Albert Hall and the Sydney Opera House; Paul McCartney chose Ray to perform at his wedding, Van Morrison chose Ray to open up his shows for him, Robbie Williams insisted Ray open up for him at his legendary “Swing When You’re Winning” show at The Royal Albert Hall; Bryan Adams requested Ray to perform at his birthday party. When movie producers want authentic swinging music in their films, Ray is the ‘go-to’ guy.
But enough of that - for what promises to be an emotional night, Ray is returning to his beloved West London roots to appear at Bush Hall, with his incredible band, The Giants. With a string of albums, numerous awards and rave reviews under their belts, Ray and the Giants have consistently delivered entertaining, swinging music to millions of people around the world, and this very special show promises to be no exception. For goodness sake book early for this one – Ray Gelato is coming home.
COMMENT FROM FESTIVAL DIRECTOR LEO GREEN:
“I’m thrilled we’ve got Ray and the guys to perform at the Festival – I know how in demand these guys are during the Summer months, playing festivals all over Europe, so to have a native Londoner who has an international profile perform at the very first BluesFest London is fantastic. To have Ray return to the neighbourhood that he grew up in to perform, makes this booking even more special.”
A FINAL WORD FROM RAY GELATO:
“I’m thrilled to be playing at the very first BluesFest London and I can’t wait to play for the people and the area I grew up in.”
