Danny Marsden / Trumpet

Danny got his musical education at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama.  He is recognised as one of the best, and most versatile players around.  Danny has played in many top West End shows, including Chicago, Fame, and My Fair Lady.  He has also worked in many of the country's top big bands and orchestras, such as The Glenn Miller Orchestra UK, BBC Radio Big Band, The Syd Lawrence Orchestra, and The Moscow State Symphony.  Danny is also versatile enough to cross over into the pop field.  Some of his work includes "The Spice Girls" and "The Brand New Heavies". Danny made several appearances with the Giants before becoming a permanent fixture.

Gunther Kuermayr / Piano

Gunther was born in Linz, Austria. He started playing classical piano at the age of seven and then went on to study music at Music University in Graz, Austria before moving on to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Since 1997 Gunther has been living in London. As the newest member of the band he's already making quite a mark with Alyn Shipton of The Times, in a recent live review noting: “Most impressive is the latest recruit Gunther Kuermyr whose nimble solo lines belied impressive strength, and who also kept the rhythm section moving forward energetically”

Alex Garnett / Alto & Tenor Saxes

Son of acclaimed British sax player, Willie Garnett, Alex also started learning the sax at an early age. In his mid 20s (although his boyish looks have resulted in the nickname of "Young Man with the Horn", or the "Young Son") he has made a name for himself on the London jazz scene, and is regularly featured in the 'Echoes of Ellington' big band, and together with Ray fronts "The Tough Tenors". Alex joined the Giants in '96.

Andy Rogers / Trombone

Andy was born in Wolverhampton and moved to London in 1992. After playing in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra he went on to play in various other big bands including the Echoes of Ellington Orchestra where he met Ray Gelato. He has been a regular in many West End shows and has also performed with artists as diverse as Buddy Greco, Frankie Vaughn, Aswad and Eternal. Andy's main interest though is jazz and over the years he has been fortunate enough to play with some of the Jazz greats including Bobby Shew, Benny Carter, and Dizzy Gillespie.

Mike Janisch / Double Bass

Since arriving to London from the USA 18 months ago, Michael Janisch has rapidly established himself as one of the leading and most versatile acoustic/electric bass players on the scene. As a powerful and fluent jazz player with great feel and virtuosic technique, he includes the likes of Joe Lovano, Roy Hargrove, Dianna Reeves, Shirley Horn and Clark Terry etc on an impressive CV which includes gigs at the Hollywood Bowl, Marciac, Singapore, Umbria, and Monterey Festivals. Michael, a Berklee College of Music full scholarship grad still in his twenties, has studied with jazz bass legend Ray Brown, played on over twenty albums, toured in almost thirty countries and has done studio work, tv appearances, and played in music videos.

Elliott Henshaw / Drums

Elliott graduated from Salford University in 1997. Having worked regularly on West End shows such as The Producers and Bombay Dreams he now currently holds the drum chair for The Rat Pack at the Savoy Theater. Elliott's other credits include working for Michael Ball, Dame Shirley Bassey, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, the BBC Big Band, the Laurie Holloway trio and Noel Sullivan (Hearsay). In 1996 and 1997 Elliott twice won the BBC Radio Two Big Band Drummer of the Year Award.
